The world needs more feminine energy
And it starts with us, women, reclaiming it
When you think about feminine energy, what images come to mind? What kind of emotions does it bring out?
Take a minute, maybe, to write them down. To visualize them; to feel them. Most of the women who answer this question write things like beauty, compassion, warmth, creativity, communion, nurture, and intuition - all attributes of the feminine, when expressed in positive ways (look out for a post on how the feminine manifest itself in negative ways, it's in the making!)
Now I ask you to think about the world we live in. About its beauty and its struggles. About the values it promotes. How do the thoughts and images about the feminine align with them?
If you are at a loss in finding commonalities, know that you're not alone.
In truth, we do live (and have been living for a long time) in a highly masculine world. Not that there's anything wrong with masculine energy, but when this is not balanced with its feminine counterpart we all suffer. Not only women, men too.
We need rational thinking, but we also need to listen to our intuition, to our senses. Competition can be good, but not at the expense of others, not when it's done without empathy for the other side.
We need to feed and clothe ourselves, to enjoy what the planet has to give us, but at the same time, we need to learn how to care for it.
We need compassion just as much as we need the drive to get things done.
This balance can only be restored when we, women, reclaim our divine feminine. When we learn how to be connected to it. When we show to others how much better a balanced world looks like; without putting down the masculine; without denying its positive aspects.
Yes, women are more than capable of competing with men; of beating men at their own game. But each time we do it, we deny ourselves. We give up pieces of ourselves. So the real game-changer is this: live life according to our own values and sensitivities, instead of trying to beat men at their own game.
